IPL 2025 Revised Schedule: Tournament to Resume May 17, Final Set for June 3

After a brief suspension due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume on May 17, with the final now scheduled for June 3, as per a revised schedule announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday.
The remainder of the tournament will be played across six venues — Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad — meaning that Punjab Kings (PBKS), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will not enjoy home-ground advantages. While CSK and SRH have already been eliminated from playoff contention, PBKS, currently third with 15 points from 11 matches, stand to lose the most in the revamped fixture list.
The BCCI stated that the new schedule was formulated following “extensive consultations with government and security agencies, as well as all key stakeholders.”
A total of 17 matches — including 13 league games and 4 playoff fixtures — will be played over 18 days, with double-header Sundays on May 18 and May 25.

West Indies: Romario Shepherd (RCB), Shamar Joseph (LSG), Sherfane Rutherford (GT)
England: Jos Buttler (GT), Phil Salt, Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone (RCB), Will Jacks, Reece Topley (MI)
Additionally, the IPL final on June 3 leaves a tight 7-day gap before the World Test Championship (WTC) Final between Australia and South Africa, set to begin on June 11 at Lord’s. Key players possibly impacted include:
Australia: Pat Cummins, Travis Head (SRH), Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood (RCB), Josh Inglis (PBKS)
South Africa: Marco Jansen (SRH), Aiden Markram (LSG), Kagiso Rabada (GT), Tristan Stubbs (DC), Ryan Rickelton (MI), Kwena Mphaka (RR)
