Key Moments

There is something that South Africa does so right in hosting multi-team tournaments. Be it the facilities, the colour, the entertainment, the competition, it's been quite an enjoyable viewing ever since the 2003 World Cup. Mens cricket has just had the success of SA20, now the women have made a great impact in the World Cup. Cricket world needs South Africa on song, for they have traditionally been one of the attractive cricket nations. This World Cup sure will inspire quite a few in the Rainbow Nation like it did in India with the 2017 World Cup. On that note, we take leave. Hope you enjoyed whatever we had to offer. See you again!

Meg Lanning walks to the dias and gets the World Cup in her hands. Now she joins her teammates as the champagne goes off. The fireworks and the confetti do their bit in the background.

This was a 140 pitch, so Australia got their noses ahead when they made 156. South Africa will have wanted to finish better with the ball. And with the bat, their start was really sedate. Can't afford to eat so many dots chasing a tough total on a tough pitch against a high quality bowling line up. Wolvaardt did her absolute best to hold this in one piece. Kapp gave a lot of promise but played a poor shot to Gardner and perished. Luus ran herself out. Tryon stuck around for a bit but wasn't timing them sweet. Till the time Wolvaardt was at the crease, the Aussies were on their toes because she was getting fours and sixes at will. But, just like the Aussies teams over the years have done, they held their nerve under pressure and pushed it out of South Africa's reach and mute a faithful crowd.
