Stadium Profile

Venue description: The Manuka Oval is located in the suburb of Griffith in Manuka, Canberra. The stadium plays host to a number of sporting events other than cricket, including Australian football. The ground was originally an open park called the 'Manuka Circle Park'. After an enclosing fence was built in 1929, it came to be recognised as the Manuka Oval. The ground hosts the yearly game between the Prime Minister’s XI (a team picked by the Australian PM) and an overseas touring team. The ground is home to the ACT Comets, a cricket team representing Australian Capital Territory. The ground also offers a beautiful backdrop with trees encircling the entire oval, many of which were planted way back in the 1920s. How does the pitch play? Not many games have been hosted by Manuka Oval - which makes it difficult to gauge how the pitch may play. But looking at history, it is traditionally a very good batting wicket. By Sidhant Maheshwari
