Chinelle Henry's Profile

Chinelle Henry, also known as Chinelle Akhalia Henry, was born on 17 August 1995 in Jamaica. She is a Caribbean cricketer, an all-rounder, who is a right-handed medium-fast bowler, and a right-handed batter. Chenille plays domestic cricket for Jamaica and Barbados Royals. She started her cricket career at a very young age.

She made her international debut at the age of 18 years with the T20I series against White Ferns on 24 October 2013. After a few months, she debuted in the ODIs on 24th February 2014 against the England Women’s team. In the ODI series, Chinelle got run out after 10 runs. After that, Chinelle subsequently fell out of favour from the ODIs for 5 years.

After 5 years, Chinelle came with a bash in the West Indies Women’s cricket team in 2018. In the same year, she played in the ICC Women’s World Cup T20 tournament held in the West Indies. After this tournament, Chinelle came into the limelight.

In July 2019, Chenille was awarded her first central contract from the Cricket West Indies ahead of the 2019-20 season. She was included in the West Indies team for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia in January 2020. Chinelle received a central contract with Cricket West Indies in May 2021.

During the second women's T20I match between Pakistan and the West Indies at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on July 2, 2021, Chinelle and her teammate Chedean Nation collapsed on the pitch in ten minutes. They were both in a conscious and unstable state when they were rushed to the hospital.

She was selected to play for the West Indies in the October 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup qualifier tournament held in Zimbabwe. Chinelle played another match in February 2022 for the Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. Besides playing for the West Indies team, Chinelle has been a regular participant in franchise cricket for the Barbados Royals since 2022. She was a part of the title win of the Barbados Royals match in the Women’s Caribbean Premium League in 2023. In early 2024, Henry picked up 6 for 31, including a hat-trick, against the Windward Islands in the Women's Super50 Cup, helping Jamaica secure the title.

Now, Chinelle is all set for her debut in the 2025 Women’s Premier League by joining the UP Warriors as a replacement for the injured skipper, Alyssa Healy.
