Abhimanyu Eashwaran is an Indian cricketer who plays as a right-handed opening batsman. He captained the Bengal Ranji squad, the India A cricket team, and India B in the Duleep Trophy in the domestic circuit.
Abhimanyu was born in Dehradun on September 6, 1995, to a Punjabi mother and a Tamil father. He attended Kolkata's Umes Chandra College. Abhimanyu’s father, Ranganathan Parameshwaran Easwaran, a chartered accountant who founded the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy in 2008, trained him during his formative years.
Abhimanyu Eashwaran, who lived with his coach Nirmal Sengupta, relocated to Kolkata when he was ten years old to further his cricket career.
On January 31, 2017, he made his T20 debut for Bengal in the Inter-State T20 Tournament 2016–17. He was included in the India A team for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018. With 861 runs in six games, he was Bengal's top run scorer in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy.
Abhimanyu was added to the India Red team for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy in August 2019. He hit 153 runs against India Green in the final match of the competition. He was also included in the India A team for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy in October 2019.
In January 2021, Abhimanyu Eashwaran was included in India's Test team for their home series against England as one of five standby players. He was also selected as one of four standby players for India's Test team in May 2021 for both their away series against England and the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship final.
Abhimanyu's most recent call to the Indian team came in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in October 2024; however, he was unable to make his debut for the Indian team.
Right now, Abhimanyu is one of the leading run-getters in domestic red-ball cricket and a huge contender to fill in the opening slot in tests after Rohit Sharma’s retirement.
