Jamieson was a vital part of the New Zealand squad that won the ICC World Test Championship in 2019–2021. He was named Player of the Match in the 2019-21 WTC Final after taking five wickets in the opening innings. Jamieson was a member of the New Zealand team for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Six feet eight inches tall, Jamieson is the tallest player to have ever played for New Zealand in international cricket. He is a vital allrounder for Kiwis who is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a useful lower-order batsman.
Under the guidance of bowling coach Dayle Hadlee, Richard Hadlee's brother, he gradually transitioned from being a batting all-rounder to a bowler in 2012. On December 4, 2016, he played his first Twenty20 match for Canterbury in the 2016–17 Super Smash. He was given a contract with Canterbury for the 2018–19 campaign in June 2018.
In the 2018–19 Super Smash match between the Auckland Aces and Canterbury Kings on January 1, 2019, Jamieson grabbed six wickets for seven runs from his four overs – the third-best numbers ever and the best by a bowler in a T20 competition in New Zealand. With 22 dismissals in ten games, he was the 2018–19 Super Smash's top wicket-taker in that season.
Jamieson took a hat-trick against Central Districts in October 2020 during the second round of the 2020–21 Plunket Shield season. Jamieson got his first national call when he was included in New Zealand’s T20I team for the series against the West Indies in November 2020.
