Saika Ishaque is an Indian Female cricketer who was born in the narrow lanes of Park Circus in Kolkata on 8th October 1995. Inspired by Indian cricket icon Jhulan Goswami, who coached her in her early years, the Indian-international cricket player refined her abilities in local clubs. After her father died when she was 12, cricket became her passion and source of comfort.
The left-arm spinner’s domestic career began in 2013 when she first appeared for the Bengal Women’s Team. Later, she played for Bengal in the Women's Senior T20 Trophy in October 2022. She also participated in the Women's T20 Challenger Trophy the following month, representing India A. Her breakthrough moment came in the 2023 Women's Premier League, where she was acquired by Mumbai Indians for INR 10 lakhs. She got nine wickets at an average of 5.80 in eight games during her outstanding performance for the Mumbai Indians in her first season. She was the second-highest wicket-taker of the season and helped her team to reach the final.
Saika’s domestic performances earned her a spot in the national team of India. In December 2023, she received her first international call-up for India for the England and Australia series. On December 6, 2023, she played her first Twenty20 International match against England. She was chosen for India's ODI and T20I series against Australia in December 2023. She was included in India's Test team for the series against South Africa in May 2024. Ishaque’s outstanding performance with the Mumbai Indians in the Women's Premier League of 2025 was a major factor in their tournament triumph.
