Muhammad Abbas Afridi is a Pakistani Cricketer, born on 5th April 2001. He is the nephew of Umar Gul who is a former International cricketer of Pakistan. He was born in Peshawar, Pakistan.
In 2018 he made his professional debut in List A cricket for Habib Bank Limited in the 2018-19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup. This laid him a solid foundation, later he again took a step forward and made his first-class debut for Habib Bank Limited in the 2018-19 Quaid-e-Azam.
Afridi was named in Pakistan’s squad for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2019. There he emerged as the top wicket-taker for Pakistan in the tournament highlighting his skills and grabbing the attention of the selectors.
He earned recognition once again when he was selected in the Pakistan Shaheens squad for the tour of Sri Lanka.
In February 2021, he joined Karachi Kings for the 2021 Pakistan Super League
(PSL). A month later, he made his T20 debut for the franchise. During the 2023 PSL, he made a significant remark by being the top wicket-taker of the season, claiming 23 wickets. Afridi was then selected by the Montreal Tigers in the 2023 Global T20 Canada, where he was praised for his outstanding hat-trick against the Vancouver Knights.
Abbas made his international debut for the Pakistan Cricket Team in a match against New Zealand on 12th January 2024 where he took 3 wickets for 34 runs. In May 2024, he was included in the Pakistan Squad for the T20I World Cup in West Indies. Recently, Abbas was part of the Pakistan team that played a 5 match T20I match in New Zealand.
