Monank Dilipbhai Patel was born in Anand, Gujrat, India, on May 1, 1993. He is the captain of the American national cricket team. Known for his role as a right-handed top-order batsman, he began representing the United States Team in 2018. Patel has played at the Under-16 and Under-18 levels for Gujarat. In 2010, after receiving a green card, he moved to the United States of America.
In the 2018-19 ICC World T20 Americas Tournament, held in Morrisville, North Carolina, in August 2018, he was selected for the United States squad. With 208 runs, he was the leading run scorer in the match. Later that year, in October, he was selected to represent the USA in the 2018-19 Regional Super50 tournament.
Monank made his List A debut for the United States on 6 October 2018 in a match against Combined Campuses and Colleges. Later that month, on 22 October, he scored his first century in a match against Jamaica. The tournament saw him finish as the top run scorer with a total of 290 runs. During the same period, he was picked by the American team for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division 3 competition. He struck 107 runs in the opening match against Uganda.
Patel made his Twenty20 International debut against the United Arab Emirates for the USA on 15th March 2019. The following month, he played in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament, where the US finished in the top four places, earning the ODI status. In April 2019, he made his ODI debut against Papua New Guinea.
In August 2019, he was one of the five players to sign a 12-month central contract with USA Cricket. With 230 runs in 8 matches, he was the leading run scorer in the 2019-20 Regional Super 50 tournament. Later in the month, he knocked out his first ODI century for the United States in the opening match of the 2021 Oman Tri-Nation series (round 6).
