Nitish Kumar Reddy better known as Nitish Reddy born on May 26, 2003, is an Indian international cricketer. He is a right-handed, all-rounder who bowls medium-pace. In domestic cricket, Reddy represents Andhra and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Nitish Reddy made his International debut on October 6, 2024, in a T20I match against Bangladesh, and he made his Test debut for India on November 22, 2024, during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Born in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Nitish’s father is Mutyala Reddy, a former employee of Hindustan Zinc. Nitish began playing cricket at the age of 5. He would frequently go to the Hindustan Zinc grounds to see cricket players. Nitish frequented VDCA camps and first trained under Kumara Swamy, Krishna Rao, and Watekar with the help of his father, who resigned from his position when he was moved to Udaipur to promote his son's cricket career.
During Under-12 and Under-14 age group tournaments, Nitish was noticed by former Indian cricket player and selector MSK Prasad. He was then selected to train at the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) academy in Kadapa, where he was coached by Madhusudhana Reddy and Srinivasa Rao.
He followed this up with a blistering season, reaching 441 against Nagaland, the quadruple tonne coming in just 345 deliveries, and finishing with 1237 runs at an average of 176.41, a tournament record, as well as 26 wickets in the 2017-18 Vijay Merchant Trophy. This earned him the BCCI 'Best Cricketer in the Under-16' Jagmohan Dalmiya Award for the 2017-2018 season. Nitish is the first ACA player to get the accolade.
Nitish was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 20 lakh in the 2023 IPL auction. In his first seasons, he played just two games, bowling a few overs. But in the next season, he had a breakout performance, winning the Emerging Player of the Year Award of 2024 IPL, after scoring 303 runs with a strike rate of 142, including crucial knocks against the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Considering his contribution to the team SRH retained him in the 2025 IPL mega auction for Rs. 6 crore.
Nitish’s first impact on the international cricket arena was felt when he made headlines by scoring 74 runs off 35 balls with a strike rate of 217 in the second game of the T20I series against Bangladesh, played in Delhi on October 9, 2024. In that game, he took two wickets and was named play...
