Saim Ayub is a Pakistani international cricketer. The top-order left-handed batter was born in Karachi, Pakistan, on May 24, 2002. He was introduced to cricket at an early age through tape ball cricket from Gulistan-e-Johar, with assistance from his father and two older brothers. His father, Ayub Ahmed, and his uncle, Muhammad Javed, were both club cricket players.
Saim made his T20 debut in February 2021 in the Pakistan Super League for Quetta Gladiators. He made his List A debut for Sindh in the 2022 Pakistan Cup in March 2022. His first-class debut came in September that year, for Sindh in the 2022 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Later in December of that year, he was a part of the national team for the second Test match against New Zealand series in Karachi.
In the 2023-24 Pakistan Super League, he smashed his maiden half-century in 33 balls for Peshawar Zalmi in February 2023. Saim struck 74 off 34 to assist Peshawar Zalmi reach 240/2 in 20 overs against Quetta Gladiators in the 2023 PSL season. He scored a scorching 58 from 33 balls in PSL 2023 against Multan Sultans. He ended the season with 341 runs with a strike rate of 165.53 and an average of 28.41 in 12 games.
He was a part of the Amazon Warriors in the 2023 Caribbean Premier League season. His stellar performance in the finale led his team to the championship title of the season. Saim was selected for Pakistan's T20 International (T20I) team in March 2023 for their series against Afghanistan. He made his T20I debut in the first game of the series on March 24, 2023. He was added to Pakistan's Test squad for the series in Australia later on November 20 that year. He debuted in the series' third test match on January 3, 2024, but he was dismissed for a duck in his opening inning.
