Sai Sudarshan, who was born on October 15, 2001, is a left-handed batsman hailing from Tamil Nadu. He is an Indian International Cricket player, having made his debuts in ODIs and T20Is in a series against South Africa. His strokeplay is quite impressive, and he has gained a reputation for playing different strokes, making him an asset to any team.
Sudarshan has a sporting background: his father was an Indian athlete representing in the South Asian Games in Dhaka and his mother was a state-level volleyball player. He opened the batting for India in the under-19 Challenger Trophy, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Sudarshan’s career began to take off in the 2019-20 season of the Raja of Palayampatti Shield, where he shone as a leading run-scorer, making 635 runs. He made his debut in the Twenty20 format on 4th November 2021, representing Tamil Nadu in the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
His exceptional showing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League did not go unnoticed as the Gujrat Titans acquired him for the base price of INR 20 lakhs in the IPL 2022 auctions. His highly anticipated IPL debut came in April 2022 when he was called to join the team as a replacement for the injured Vijay Shankar. He totaled 362 runs at an average of 51.71 for the 2023 season, and in the finals against CSK, he played an aggressive 96 runs inning, becoming the top scorer of the match even though Titans lost the match.
His career’s breakthrough season of 2023 happened in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, where Sudarshan stunned everyone with his ability to score at ease with a total of 371 runs in just six games. On July 4, 2023, Sudarshan received a call from the India A team and he was picked in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, and later he was announced as the standby player in the team. His performance in the game against Pakistan A solidified his position in the team, hitting 104 runs off 110 balls, leading his team to victory.
