Abdullah Shafique is the right-handed top-order batter of Pakistan. He was born on 20th November 1999 in Sialkot. His father Shafiq Ahmed was a professional cricketer who later became a cricket coach. His father started coaching him when he was just 3 years old and at the age of 16, he played for the Pakistan Under-19. His uncle Arshad Ali also played international cricket for UAE. In addition to cricket, he is a singer too, and many of his songs have also gone viral.
Shafique made his first-class debut in the 2019-20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in December 2019. In the tournament, he played for Central Punjab and made 133 runs. In September 2020, he became the first Pakistani cricketer to score a century in his first-class T20 debut. Later in December 2021, he was named in the Lahore Qalandar’s squad for the 2022 PSL.
After an impressive run in the T20 National Cup, he caught selectors' eyes and was listed in the 22-man squad for the home series against Zimbabwe. On 10 November 2020, his international career kicked off with his T20I debut for Pakistan.
In January 2021, he was recognized in the Test squad for a series against South Africa. In March he was selected for the ODIs and Tests against South Africa and Zimbabwe. Later on 26 November 2021, he made his Test debut for Pakistan against Bangladesh.
In February 2022, he scored 397 runs and scored his maiden century for Pakistan against Australia. On 21st August 2022, he made his ODI debut for Pakistan against the Netherlands. Abdullah made his World Cup debut in the 2023 World Cup against Sri Lanka and scored his first ODI century leading Pakistan to victory. He scored 113 runs at a strike rate of 109.71.
