Prabath Jayasuriya's Profile

Neketh Gedara Roshan Prabhat Jayasuriya, popularly known as Prabath Jayasuriya, was born on 5 November 1991 in Matale, Sri Lanka. He is a slow left-arm bowler and a right-handed batsman who plays professionally for the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. Prabhat plays for the Colts Cricket Club and Jaffna Stallions in domestic matches. He is the quickest bowler to reach 50 and 100 Test wickets for Sri Lanka.

Jayasuriya completed his higher education at Christ Church College, Matale, and Lumbini College Colombo. Jayasuriya has been a cricket lover since childhood. In his college time, he traveled from Matale to Colombo, a 150km journey just to play cricket. Jayasuriya represented his college in under 13 and 15 teams, as well as Matale District XI U-15 at the 2006 SLC Inter-District Tournament. Later, the Matale Cricket Club selected him to participate in the Sara Division 1 Tournament in 2007.

On December 6, 2011, he got the chance to make his List A debut for Colombo Cricket Club against Sri Lanka Army in the 2011/12 Premier Limited Over Tournament. He played well in that match. Again, on February 10, 2012, Jayasuriya was selected for the Colombo Cricket Club for Tier B matches in the 2011/12 Premier League Tournament. After his performance in previous matches, in 2012, he got a chance to debut in the T20 tournament. On March 26, 2012, Jayasuriya played for the Colombo Cricket Club against the Lankan Cricket Club during the CSN Premier Clubs T20 tournament.

In March 2018, Jayasuriya was included in Kandy's squad for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. Later on, seeing his performance, he was added to Galle's team for the 2018 SLC T20 League in August.

He was a member of the Sinhalese Sports Club squad that won the 2020–21 SLC Twenty20 Tournament in March 2021, marking his first tournament victory.

Thanks to his incredible domestic cricket performances, Jayasuriya was selected to play for Sri Lanka in the One Day International series against South Africa in 2018.

During the home Test series against Bangladesh in April 2021, he was almost ready to make his Test debut as an injury replacement for Lasith Embuldeniya but couldn’t make it because of failing skinfold fitness Tests.

He was selected as a frontline spinner in Sri Lanka's Test match for the second game against Australia in July 2022 as a replacement for Ja...
