Wesley Nyasha Madhevere is a Zimbabwean cricketer. Born on September 4, 2000, in Harare, Zimbabwe, he is recognized for his all-around capabilities. His cricket journey started with impressive performances in three Under-19 World Cups: 2016, 2018, and 2019.
He made his List A debut for Mashonaland Eagles on February 8, 2020, during the 2019-20 Pro50 Championship. Before this, he served as the vice-captain of the Zimbabwe team in the 2020 Under 19 cricket World Cup. Shortly after, on February 20, he debuted in first-class cricket for the same team in the Logan Cup.
Madhevere’s performances secured him a position on Zimbabwe’s national team during their tour of Bangladesh at the beginning of 2020. He debuted in One Day Internationals on March 1, 2020, followed by his T20 International debut just a few days later on March 9, 2020, both matches against Bangladesh. In December 2020, he was chosen to represent the Eagles in the 2020 Logan Cup.
Wesley first appeared in a test match on March 2, 2021, against Afghanistan. By March 2023, he was chosen for Zimbabwe’s ODI squad for their series against New Zealand. During the second match of the series, he became the third player in Zimbabwean history to achieve a hat-trick in ODIs. Later that year, he was suspended for four months by Zimbabwe Cricket for using illegal drugs and was fined with 50% of his salary for three months.
He returned to international cricket in July 2024 during the T20I series versus India. On February 16, 2025, he scored unbeaten 61 runs in an ODI match against Ireland, which took place in Harare. The 24-year-old spin-bowling allrounder is a great prospect for the Zimbabwe Cricket.
