Marnus Labuschagne, popularly known as Smudge, is an Australian International cricketer. He is a right-handed batter and a right-arm bowler who generally bowls leg-break but is also capable of delivering right-arm medium pace bowls as well. He was a captain of the Queensland Junior Cricket team. Marnus defines the Glamorgan team in county cricket and the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.
Labuschagne was born to South African parents in Klerksdorp, on 22 June 1994. His family migrated to Australia in 2004 when his father got a job in the Mining industry. Labuschagne completed his early education at Brisbane State High School. Prior to showing off his cricket prowess, Labuschagne was employed by Channel 9 at the Gabba in Brisbane as an infrared camera operator. Due to this job, he got the golden opportunity to witness Peter Siddle's hat-trick during the 2010-11 Ashes Series.
Labuschagne's cricket career started in 2012, when he played his first match for the Queensland team. He played under-12, under-15, under-17, and under-19 levels for the Queensland team. Labuschagne had the opportunity to lead the Queensland squad in the national championship in 2012–2013. From 2013 to 2014, he played club cricket in England, increasing his run totals for Plymouth in the Devon Premier League and Sandwich Town Cricket Club in the Kent Premier League.
